torque wrench inch-pounds
alternator torque query?
take an average a 24v alternator, can anyone tell me what the minimum alternator pully wheel rpm (revolutions per minute) would need to be for a constant power supply to be generated? I also need to find out what approximate torque is required to turn the pully - expressed in pounds per sq inch as per a torque wrench.
The Delco Remy 33SI alternator reaches it's rated 24V/100A at around 5,000 RPMs (nominal regulated voltage is 27.5V.)
As for torque I assume you mean the torque to turn the pulley nut which is 75 lb. ft. The Alternator shaft itself (and the pulley attached to it) should spin freely although belt tension and engine compression can make it harder to turn.
