torque wrench testing

torque wrench testing
help ap physics test tomorrow and im screwed!?

1) find the torque exerted on a 14 cm wrench by a 50 N force that makes a 30 degree angle with the wrnch handle

2) find the one force that will balance out a force of 40 N North and a force of 10 N at 30 degress east of north

3) a 70kg astronaunt in skylab tosses a package of nachos to another astronaut. if the package weighs 5N , and is ossed att 6m/sec, with what velocity does the thrower move?

i would really appreciate it if someone answers this with stpes and all because im so lost. :/

1) Torque = 0.14 x 50 x sin30 = 3.5 Nm.

2) The force that will balance it will be completely opposite ie. a force of 40 N south and a force of 10 N at 30 degrees west of south. These are two forces. To find one force add these two -

Breaking into components -

40 N force = 40 in south direction.
10 N force = 5 N to west plus 5sqrt3 = 8.66 N to south.

Adding -- 48.66 N to south plus 5 N to west = 48.92 N to 5 degrees 52 radians west of south.

3) Using conservation of momentum -- 70 x v = 5/9.8(mass of package) x 6

=> v = 0.044 m/s.
